Please note; the phones are off from 1pm to 2pm and again from 5pm to 6pm. This is to enable staff to deal with administration and sort prescriptions. If you require a doctor URGENTLY during these times, please telephone the practice mobile (07526084793).

We are also closed for administration and staff training on Thursday afternoons from 1pm. If you require urgent medical advice between 1pm and 6pm, please telephone 07526084793

If you need help when we are closed

If you require urgent GP assistance outside of normal surgery hours please call 028 91 822 344. The doctors are based at Ards Hospital and cover:

  • 8.30am to 6pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
  • 1pm to 6pm Thursdays are covered by emergency line on 07526084793
  • Lunchtime closure – 1pm to 2pm
  • Bank holidays are also covered by the out of hours GP service - 028 91 822344

All calls to doctors are recorded – this is not a walk-in service. Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.  

Urgent Care

An urgent care centre is a consultant led service equipped to diagnose and deal with many of the most common ailments people attend an emergency department for. 

There are two urgent care centres in the South Eastern Trust – Lagan Valley and Downe

Those contacting the service will be triaged and offered an appointment within the urgent care service or directed to the most appropriate service.

Downe Hospital - 8am to 6pm, Monday – Friday (028) 4483 8091.

Minor Injuries

A minor injuries unit can treat injuries that are not critical or life-threatening. You should attend a minor injuries unit if it is suitable for the type of injury that you have.

Types of injuries treated can include:

  • Injuries to upper and lower limbs
  • Broken bones, sprains, bruises and wounds
  • Bites – human, animal and insect
  • Burns and scalds
  • Abscesses and wound infections
  • Minor head injuries
  • Broken noses and nosebleeds
  • Foreign bodies in the eyes and nose

Ulster Hospital Minor Injuries: every day 8am to 6pm – walk in service and phone first

(Ards minor injuries unit is now closed).

Downe Hospital, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.  Saturday and Sunday 9am to 5pm
