New IT System

Our new clinical IT system went live on 18 March 2025. We anticipated some disruption to our services in the weeks following the installation but thankfully they were kept to a minimum. The Online Services feature which you may have used in the past to order repeat prescriptions ceased with the old system but we aim to send you new linkage codes via email to enable you to register with the new service.  If we have not yet sent these, please enquire at reception. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress via our Facebook page.

Private Treatment

If you see a private Consultant, they may suggest further simple tests such as bloods, urine or stool tests etc, or more complex tests such as x-rays, scans, scopes depending on the problem. These have to be done within the private sector and you should factor this into total costs.

If the consultant suggests a prescription, we are often happy to an NHS prescription, but only if it is a licensed drug used appropriately and is in the Northern Ireland formulary, but the GP retains the right to decline prescribing if they have significant concerns, and the Consultant is still able to prescribe it themselves privately.

Depending on what treatment / prescription a Consultant recommends, you should understand and be aware you may have to pay for any ongoing treatment or medications which are recommended (which the GP is not willing or able to prescribe for the reasons above).

Sufficient post-operative medication, e.g. pain relief or anticoagulation, should be provided at discharge following procedures carried out by private sector providers, without needing a GP prescription.
