Temporary Registration

If you are ill while away from home for more than 24hrs or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice by registering as a temporary resident. You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months your registration will expire and if you are still residing in the area, you may wish to register as permanent. We would expect you to contact your own Practice if you are within a 30 mile radius.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the surgery on 02842728854. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered. Information on the nature of your illness will be requested by our receptionist and the doctor will make a decision as to whether you will be offered a prescription or an appointment.

If you require medication, you could contact your registered practice and ask them to phone/fax your prescription to a nearby pharmacy. Alternatively, the community pharmacy may be able to issue you with some medication, though you will have to pay for this.
